Loaned

Damned if I know how much a thousand dollars is worth. I don’t care I wanna go. I don’t care I wanna go.

Maroon and Gold was the color of my heart since I was born. I was going.

Damned if I know how much a hundred thousand dollars is worth.

My freshman year of college rolls around. As my new friends were ordering fake IDs and partying, I threw on my apron.

My favorite weekend look. Books.

Lab fees.

Just one more shift.

New weekend, guys.

One year of college gone and my free money disappears.

You know your state school that you never applied to because your pride was too.

Immature.

Graduate with know loans?

Damned if I know how much I could save.

The name of my school. The pride of my acceptance. What is that worth if I have but a degree to keep warm at night.

I was damned. I did not know what debt was worth.

Transfer application wasn’t someone I thought I would ever know.

But I’ll be damned if it kills my ambition.

My kids will wear where the color that they want.

Damn.
