Loaner at Heart

Upon the bay,

            I sat and looked the way

Of the water, rippling now;

Undisturbed, but very vivid.

Birds sing shrilly on the wing;

Nothing moves across the waves,

But the waves are white,

As they break upon the shore.

Dogs are out to play,

With owners throwing sticks

And stones for them to catch,

           As they dance in and out of the waves.

Denzel has decided to stay;

Too reflective to wander;

A wistful loaner at heart,

           But to him the sea holds great charm.
