Logic to Liberation
My life is filled with numbers
Equations to calculate how the world works
Day in and day out I take
Derivatives and integrals
And sometimes I work on a problem for hours
Getting nowhere at all
My life is filled with logic
Syntax and operators to create a game
All day and all night I type
Classes and methods
And I can spend days searching for a problem
Only to find out I was missing one semicolon
Physics teaches me that there is one answer
That rainbows are nothing more than refraction
And the tides are caused by gravity
Nothing in this world is a miracle
And when I program
There is no style, no creativity
Every program has the same structure
And there is only one way to declare a variable
I love what I study
Don’t misunderstand
But sometimes I want there to be some flexibility
In the way I see the world
I want there to be more than
Right and wrong
And so I turn to poetry
I write to feel, I write to discover myself
Because I know there is more to life than numbers
And not everything should have the same structure
Poetry is my time to be creative
Where I’m never right or wrong
I’m just me
And I can finally tell my story
Something wrong with this poem?
