The Lone Pecan Tree

A lone pecan tree stands where children played Now surrounded by ghostly memories And little ones' trinkets now long decayed That once had brought sorrows, joys, and worries. The ancient pecan tree stood tall and proud When the time had come for the wind to howl And shaking roughly to and fro allowed The leaves and pecans to fall from its boughs. Giving the world an edible treasure Provided by a single, lonely tree. It's a miracle by any measure Presented by God to humanity. The pecan tree is still there, wrapped in vines Standing as one of God's marvelous signs.
