A Lone Snowflake Falling Through the Night Sky

Shimmering beyond shivering,

silence quakes none.

Remains of a golden day’s lingering,

breathe with her suffocating lung.

Radiant day begins to seep beneath the horizon.

Soon, silver rim ascends,

slipping into the fall of night’s dance.

A singular being transcends,

all too overcome by tranquility’s trance.

Aphotic Heavens release a singularity that descends.

She sinks beyond the crystal sea,

plummeting in thin air, the death of light.

Stifling a whimper from nighttide’s decree,

apart from brothers and sisters hovering bright.

Surely, a mistake by mother nature, her plea.

Stars as numerous and unsimilar,

glisten white in splendor.

Turning into memories that belittle her,

little lights above blink in a blur.

Tiny crystalized flake with no comforter.

Sharpness of breath takes form,

as pitch of night highlights these stars that enchant.

In a vastness of cold space they conform,

into clusters of white decadent.

Illumination of constellations that perform.

Soaring through the vastness of cold space below,

noisome waves of wind carry loneliness in pitch of night.

Aloof in a frosty world of dim, cast from welkin’s show,

floating aimlessly aflutter a night’s breeze to take her from sight.

A light within she quietly bids go...
