The Lone Wanderer

A lone man walks in the dark of night Many years have passed since he last saw the light. His wife and children have moved on, Leaving him to search for dawn. No friends say hello, While he listens to the wind bellow. He stares straight ahead A single prayer he has said. His only food is thought As he hopes for what he has not. All his dreams have died He has long since cried. He looks to his feet And a surprise do his eyes meet, Several pairs of footprints beside his own, Is it possible he is not alone? He looks to his left and to his right, There stand his loved ones with their faces bright. He never walked alone He just needed to find his way home.
