The Lonely Bird In A Cage
Happiness knows no bounds,
I was taught,
from a young age,
Until I was locked up in this cage.
All because I was a girl,
Did not mean I had to curl,
To others' order,
And to others' border.
The freedom For which I long,
Was taken from me,
Just because I was sick,
And did not know how to stop the kick.
I was never the one to hold back,
Nor was I the one to pull back.
I stood my ground, all my life,
Until now and otherwise.
While my sibling moved around,
Free and cheery.
I sat on the floor,
Thinking someone would open the door.
Was I the one to be blamed,
For having jumped into the flame?
For all those who forced me,
And all those who cursed me.
For all the ladies out there.
Do you think life's haven here?
Sorry my sister, but no, no its hell.
All because you are born a girl.
Do not you believe this?
Do not you look around?
If you still do not believe,
Then please open the door.
Then you will notice:
Curled up on the floor,
Just like a ball,
Was a living soul,
Who was left like a broken doll…
