Lonely Darkness
Darkness surrounds me
In this hollow space.
Salty water leaves my eyes,
Drifting away,
Disappearing into a sky
That I cannot see.
Is this really what life has become?
A never ending emptiness,
One that has no escape?
I begin to hover,
And I see my hair lift up around me.
It’s as if I’m submerged in water,
Not yet rested on the ocean floor.
The tears stop suddenly,
And I’m no longer left with despair.
Now it is emptiness that fills my body,
Mind, heart, and soul.
No emotion clouds me,
And now I see the darkness
Clear as day.
This emptiness turns to loneliness,
And I begin to cry again.
How unfair.
I’m stuck in a cycle of despair.
Not one person can I see,
To reach out to,
Not one person can see me,
To reach in and take my hand.
Help is hopeless,
And hope is helpless.
I’m stuck in endless darkness,
With no escape.
This is my accepted fate,
Yet still, I cry endlessly.
There is no point to the tears,
No point to the emotion.
So what’s the point
In plotting escape,
When the exit is no longer visible,
And not one person can see you,
Not one person will reach out,
Not one person to hold onto,
And it’s all my fault.
