lonely but loved

every kid on my block knows my name

everyone around me

makes me feel

a little insane

is it possible to feel

so alone

when you’re

surrounded by those who love you

i’m supposed to be grateful

and cherish the people here

who want to stay

but they shrug off

my dark room

of utter pain

i’m blocked off

my happiness fades

to sadness in a few seconds

i’m worried no one is going to notice

the emotional difference i’m so used to enduring

the plaster that i’m so used to waking up in

reminding myself that happiness

is the only thing allowed

in all thirty seven point two trillion

cells in my body

i’m caving and breaking

loneliness is my internal oasis

as i’m done with the surrounding
