The lonely one


I always tried to stay away from people who could hurt me But trying to avoid others and keep to myself just made even more lonely In college, I decided that I would open up to others I was so happy to just be accepted that I lost myself and experienced plunder My joy, my happiness, my uniqueness, was all gone After the high of conformity was over, I was again the lonely one Luckily, I found some people who accepted me for who I am When I started to be myself, my “original” friends would all disappear and scram Now I enjoy being weird and a little out there I know my uniqueness provides me with confidence and an impeccable flair As I look at myself in the mirror, I no longer see the lonely one I see a girl with confidence and ambition because in the end she battled fear and won
