Be strong Know what’s right From what’s wrong Understand that people care Always remember that someone’s there Think about it, ask around Find someone to step up from the crowd To tell you how they feel That their compassion for you is real There’s always going to be someone Whether you know who or not and about your feelings, they haven’t forgotten Make the right choices Ask for advice from the wise often Don’t be ashamed to tell someone what you feel Just be honest, just be real Life can really hurt Sometimes people are mean, are curt So here is the call to action For the people in the small fraction That don’t want to see others in pain Make your words not bring loss but gain Pay more attention to the quiet ones in the classroom The ones sitting in a dark lonely world full of gloom The kid you look at thinking he woke up on the wrong side of the bed When really he was secretly wishing he were dead But there is hope for him, hope for her, hope for them If you could just do your best to be their gem the one that shines even in the deepest of troubles, the deepest of mines Be someone who doesn’t just stare, but binds Like carbon makes friends with everyone it sees It’s just an element, yet it doesn’t discriminate, like you and me But that can be changed If our hearts can just be rearranged To spot the one frown in the room of faces smiling Or better yet, find the smiling one that is pretending, hiding God puts a light in us that can fill our voids, our holes So let us use the spark to ignite others’ souls.
