LONER

I dreamt of numbers

Dined at the table of my living room

They spoke in whispers

That i couldn't quite comprehend

They exposed their fading smiles

In the dim light of my vanilla scent candles

They were hollow and unseen

On a Wednesday morning

And would join me in the basement

For a sob into the dark night

My fortress was acomfort

A rehad I'd come to call my own

A stagger in a yacht upon the docks of the Mediterranean Sea

I was a defiance of lifes's true mediocrity

And it became no better at dawn break

For I sneaked into my attic

That screamed for my thoughts to stop

And after groping for a flashlight and dead battery cells

I would lie on the stardust

Collected from the previous night

Hoping that the debris from the stars

Still retained their wishes

Enough to fix my breaking heart

Like a potter working on a porcelain
