A Lonesome Dish
Nothing more lonesome than Top Ramen,
Nothing more nutritious
It's a dish served alone, eaten alone;
Enjoyed the same no matter how you dress it.
You can cook it and deny its substance in dozens of different ways,
But in the end it is still the same solitary dish.
Sure you can eat it with friends,
But before long friends become distant places
While you ponder the salty broth and half cooked noodles;
Yourself being another island in a large, turgid brown sea.
Top ramen; a celebrated dish for poor bachelors.
It's enough to tide them over until a real meal comes along,
But until then, it is a solitary dish, for solitary men.
