Lonesome Requirement

Sometimes, being alone is required;

At least it is for a little while

Until you're lonely and don't want to smile;

You start to wonder why you desired

This lonesome solitude that consumes you,

Because at first it was nice and calming

But now you're full of thoughts that are harming,

Fears and startling wonders are of the few;

And suddenly you can't distract yourself

Because fears can only be suppressed

For so long before they start to surface;

This time you can't run away from oneself;

You quiet them down, as it's for the best

But you wonder if fears serve a purpose.
