The Long Walk Alone
He walks alone, the long walk home.
It's the same every day, he's the only one walking THAT way.
He walks fast to pass park before it gets dark.
Many painful memories the dark park holds.
The many bruises, the many scars, all obtained from hateful wars.
The notes full of threats that filled his locker at school,
now fill his book bag on this long walk home, the walk alone.
The many notes he had are now weight in his bag,
the pressure from the weight, a feeling that he cannot escape.
He finally gets home from this long walk alone,
Not to his surprise he is there alone.
He empties his bag, the hate notes go free.
But he? Still trapped he begins to cry,
he grabs a pen and then starts to write.
His fears, his story, his pain, he writes.
He signs the paper and doesn't think twice.
He walks away to the kitchen and returns with a knife. He slits his wrist.
Ending his life.
The last clause of his note stated:
ALL BECAUSE I WAS GAY.
