the long walk home

but I'm still alive

and I'm not going anywhere

with the glass from the cracks

in my feet

they open wide and smile

I could swallow a thousand miles

of ice

of bones

of open wings

they say even a dead bird sings

if only you stop and listen

if only you meet certain

expectations

follow beats of inhalation

like a needlepoint

aimed for the stars

do you need a reminder

that they're your's

to bring down

your's to fight

and your's to drown

in silence

like an open wound

crying to be bound
