A Long Way
Dear me of the past,
You’ll get there-
We’ll start with that.
The way is hard
But you’re living-
You made it to
22
Take a deep breath
Let me set the scene.
You have a room in a flat
and you
buy your own groceries
You don’t go hungry anymore
You
Made it through
You’re making it through
It’s hard
To inhale some days
But you take a bath
(you can take a bath!)
and you Care
You tend to your heart
That you once thought to
remove from your chest
and you let yourself
be bad/be good/be Alive
You’re 16 and someone listens to you
When your guts spill out to them
When you fall
You don’t fall far
This is me
Giving you permission
Do what you need to
To get to here
To grow up
(you’re going to go so far)
Now and Forever,
It’s me
