Longevity

I sit and watch my darkening of my surrounding, the night light seems to grow dimmer and chances of finding my way out grow slimmer I’m hungry for success but I’m living in a house without a chance at dinner Is this the struggle of coming up short with only a dollar and a dream what it takes to become a winner? I write when life needs a moment captured in verbs, words and a phrase for the next person to get through Even when they feel they’re through, I’m the man in the mirror but I don’t believe who I see in the moment will still be there when I’m through I look for motivation; I’m reading Confucius when I'm confused. I can’t say I hate the struggle but I don’t enjoy it. I just say at least I’m living; I’m trying to find my place so I can breathe or at least feel a moment at peace I’m tired of being wrong so I write to feel right it’s the only time I find my balance it’s the only time I understand what it’s like to have a talent I hold a million thoughts I’m so erratic I’m the TV no one will watch because I only emit static my poetry is my therapy I see confusion and negativity but these words paint hope with clarity I need the opportunity; I keep holding my head up because I know this will pay off I have hope and persistence I plan to leave a legacy to change my children’s destiny I’ll keep reading this when I'm in need of strength to carry on that’s why it’s called longevity.
