Longing

Longing,

she walks with a smile

but her soul cries

drenched in black.

The emptiness she’ll sing

softly every once in a while

dressed in ode to her love that dies

torn angel wings on her back.

Throwing out the food she’ll bring

consuming things makes her feel vile

sitting alone in thought, she sighs

thinking of what – or who – she lack.

Around a few friends to whom she cling

the one she loves away by a mile

wanting their affection, she tries

her heart tied away in a sack.

Secluded in her room, staring at the ring

thinking they may love her, in denial

practicing her lonely end goodbyes

wondering if wanting made her crack.
