Longing
I never felt this way before,
I could feel my heart begin to soar.
Your smile a beacon of light,
The thing I dream about at night.
But love that could not be,
Quickly began to swallow me.
I felt hopeless and in despair,
My lungs ran out of air.
Soon enough you saw my pain,
But it’s over now love is not a game.
