Longing

hot cocoa lining our lips

giggles abundant

huddled together

alongside the fire

while i steal longing glances at you

a conversation is had

in the quiet later accompanying us

affectionate caresses of cheeks

and tender strokes through hair

searching for the same warmth

possessed by the fire—

our fire
