A Longing

Some days
I turn around and see images of us
floating
The type of smiling that makes your eyes squint
These days
I look around me and your presence is absent
your smell and your face, they fade
They do not go in peace
they strain my eyes at night and consume my mind in the morning
come back
although the invisible forces pull us apart,
come back
There's protection in my arms
on my face there's a smile - the type that...
Leave them
Forget the world and its pressures
Give back everything it gave you - I can give you more
come back
to sipping Hi-Cs on my steps under the hot sun
The clock stopped ticking - you have time
I look forward
Your eyes shine brighter than the fire that fueled your departure
The point is,
I see you.
You come back.
