Longsuffering

She is the cold, and I am her confidant. I was her anchor, but still she tried to be free. I would tell her she was safe, and she would agree while her attention was on things that were not me. I was her love, but in it we were not. I sold my soul to her vinegar heart- sweet brine burning in the dark… I asked for her hand and was met by her tongue; a lashing of words that children know naught. I am the warmth, and she is my answer, a curse of vanity, false love as my cancer, she holds me down while I try to save her. I cannot be sated by sun-shaded tears I cannot forgive but she won’t let me fear I must be strong while she destroys me I die every day to keep her beside me. We have no beginning, but she has no end, but a thousand words needed to have time well spent. She is eternal, and I am her well; she draws from my water, but I’ll never tell: She’s goddess, she’s demon, she’s all that I want, but I curse the man who said love never stops.
