Look

Look into these eyes

Eyes that have seen

Eyes that have closed

Eyes that have opened

Eyes that have changed

The eyes that have seen:

Suffering

Death,

Despair,

Sadness,

Self-Destruction,

Violence,

Anger,

Betrayal,

Selfishness,

Hatred,

Depression,

Addiction,

Mental Illness,

Pain,

Evils not to be viewed,

Look at you now.

But open they must, as all must,

to carry this burden of haunting images,

unable to be erased,

these images of life.
