Look Away - a slam poem
Summer Vibez! #lovemyself
Felt Cute #queen
A Day at the Beach #summerbod
I take the drape off my mirror and stand.
My skin shimmers in the soft light of the sun
Almost as if the sun knew I needed comfort.
I look away in disgust,
Putting the drape back over it.
I take the drape off my mirror and stand.
The scales flood my skin with random hues of green and blue.
I run my fingers down my arms,
Feeling my rough skin with uncomfort.
I cover the mirror.
I take the drape off my mirror and stand.
I press share and wait for your response.
You call me ugly.
You call me a monster.
You make me feel so small.
You make me believe it is all true!
My skin makes me different!
My hair makes me different!
My eyes...
My eyes are endless oceans
Made from broken shards of glass.
The only beautiful thing I have,
and you won't even look at them.
You hide behind a screen and avoid my eyes when you see me.
You pretend to be a queen bee but have no qualifications for the throne.
You ignore who I am and judge me from my looks.
I am more then my skin.
I am more than...
I put the drape back on my mirror.
I am a monster #medusa
