Look at her

Look at her eyes once bright mocha,

Engulfed in a sea of blues and greens,

They now cry champagne tears,

Blinking but not perceiving

Look at her feet once bound to the ground,

Wrapped in silver linings,

They now lay bare,

Sinking into the rotten land of empty promises

Look at her lips once so hidden,

Overpowered by the allure of her blinding smile,

They now act as tattered curtains,

Covering the remnants of words left unsaid

Look at that mask of false happiness she calls a face,

Believed to be an accessory of her new persona,

They now is not a phrase to be considered,

Seeing as that mask has always been her reality

Look at those words once unable to be formed,

Swallowed down in the fear of not being understood,

They now spill across the pages of her journal,

Erasing all her insecurities

Look at her hands once trembling with uncertainty,

Sheltered by her pain,

They are now lacquered in the vibrant colors of mirth,

Dancing across the page as her thoughts come to life

Look at her but don’t expect it to bother her,

Poetry has armed her with confidence,

For your words don’t open wounds,

Words are the greatest weapon in her arsenal
