LOOK HERE SON

Look here son,

I done heard every speech

I done marched every march

And I still don’t got my freedom

I lived in a time where cops

(Yes, the ones who are

responsible for protecting you)

were killing black kids

I know it’s crazy,

but it’s true….

I lived in a time where

the city that you call home,

was once a war zone

for people who lived next door

Your father fought for his city

don’t i deserve my freedom?

l lived in a time where 16 shots

had nothing to do with

any old rap song…

I put my city on my back

and carried it to safety

don’t I have a right

to some freedom?

I done did my time..

I’ve made my change..

It’s about time you did yours…
