Look at Me
Look at me now; tell me what you see?
A small new puppy full of hope and need.
I do not speak or seem to hear,
though now and then I show real fear.
What will I be when I am grown?
A companion dog or actor well known?
Will I be clean and healthy and wise?
Or dirty and sickly and often despised.
Just give me love and understanding,
keep me safe, but be demanding.
For in time my life will be
a tribute to humanity.
