Look at Me

What would it be if you were there for support rather than me

Why must I be alone with the weight of your responsibilities

They look at you as if you have can explain the epidemic

As if you are the only victim

No idea of the daughter who forces her mother to eat

No idea of the brother she cradles

No idea of the terrors she finds once she finally gives in to sleep

Your depression they see when you are not face to face with me

Your heartache they thrive on

You are seen

Don’t they understand how detrimental this glass is to me.

How cold these phones are to my face

How my tears scream to be free

But you smile and I smile

Because that’s just the way things will be
