Look in the Mirror
Look in the mirror and all I see
Is long blond hair and brown eyes,
staring straight back at me.
I differ on the outside
than on the inside.
Outside, I am perfected.
I am what you want to see.
Inside I am defected,
The one not accepted by society.
Look in the mirror and all I
See is a lie.
Society does not accept
What they cannot explain.
I want a tattoo
I want to dye my hair blue
I want to do everything I'm not allowed to.
I’m a crazy, fun loving girl,
stuck in a privileged world.
Fighting to remain equal
while watching others with more power.
Being oppressed for how you feel
While society sculpts you out of steel
To be who they want.
Can’t you see
That your smothering me?
What’s the matter?
Society doesn’t recognize its own daughter?
Where have my rights gone?
I am nothing but another of society’s pawns.
Barred from who we were destined to be,
Our rights are gone and so are we.
