Look in the Mirror

Location

You want to scream

But struggle to breathe,

For you cannot speak,

For the air is cold

And the words cannot move

From the demon that wants out.

It wants to move and scream and escape

The dry throat.

It wants to escape

The dark moments in the night

Where it is tired of wasting time,

Tires of waiting and wondering,

Tired of escaping and struggling

To stay afloat,

Afloat from society,

Where the ghouls come out and try

To steal the screams that want to escape.

You want to fly but yet,

You cannot move outside,

For your past is not in the behind.

You drag it on days end,

Keeping it to yourself.

You don’t understand,

So you scream and try to escape

The demon inside but,

It cannot move.

It will not move,

For the air is cold

And the throat is dry

And your lips are now cracked,

Leaving a passage to the world.

The world can now see

That the demon inside

Trying to escape

Cannot,

For the air is cold

And the throat is dry

And the lips are cracked

But yet,

There is no demon

Just merely yourself.

So, you scream and try to escape

But you get nowhere,

Not because the air is cold

And the throat is dry

And the lips are cracked,

But because what you try to escape from

Is unattainable.

You cannot escape from

Yourself.
