A Look in the Mirror

These eyes have been hurt

By looking at the bright sunrise.

These eyes have seen the fury of the wind.

These eyes want to see

Mount Everest with a snowy peak.

These eyes are jumoing

Like a cheetah for freedom.

These ears have heard the

Death of an innocent life lost in war,

Sounding like an M16 shattering a window,

Or the fall of raindrops hitting the tin roof.

These arms can secure my baby

Brother through the night.

These arms have held him

Close to my heart.

From these lips I can kiss

The burning fire good-bye.

From these lips I have

Whispered secrets of life:

My relatives were indians,

I have very few friends.

This heart carries a heavy load.

This heart holds a lot of love.
