Look Past It

Fighting

hurt

slavery

child labor

child wars

women oppresssion

corruption.

I see these things every day,

on the news, the papers, the web.

My eyes swell with tears, face flashes red.

I walk outside to calm frazzled nerves

the wind brushes my face.

Trees sway around me

Mother Earth warms the bottom of my feet.

She whispers in my ear

"I love you, my child."

Everything bad melts away

and I know that I am safe.

I am awesome,

my life is awesome,

the people I love are awesome,

my earth is awesome.

Despite everything bad humans create,

Mother Earth makes

Everything Awesome.
