A Look Through Different Eyes

Snowflakes falling everywhere, No one has the time to stare. People rushing on the sidewalk, No one bothers to stop and talk. People to see, places to go, The stress they feel clearly shows. Beautiful sunrise skies, In the background a baby cries. Cell phone in hand, shoulders bump, Around the corner a man drives drunk. Too focused on getting the groceries, People fail to notice these things…mostly. On the side of the street sits a man, With nothing in his possession but a tin can. Without a home he has plenty of time to observe, Every day unnoticed, alone on the curb. Watching peoples’ fast paced lives, He sees their expressions, just trying to survive. Watching a smile turn into a frown, He thinks people need to slow it down. He frowns with a sense of pity, And knows it’s just another day in the city.
