Lookin' for a Place on Earth, in Heaven?

Jumped out of the nest, not long from birth,

Set out to fly, do some good on this Earth.

Was my map pre-destined or flat-out fate,

My kindness and truth met narrow-minded hate.

Desires full of goodness, got mixed up with sin,

Failure lands me, unwelcomed, back home again.

No comforts, encouragement, just deadbolted doors,

No new leaf to turnover, no love anymore.

Be who I am, or put on that mask,

No stay of execution, they stay true to their task.

Diseased, I am sick, Born, I am gay,

No good intentions, haters have lots to say.

They lynched me, abandoned, destroyed my sail,

A verdict certain, they condemned me to hell.

I am two years shy of age fifty-seven,

Lost on Earth, am I welcome in Heaven?

Crushed my soul, ripped me apart,

So many arrows, straight through the heart.

Days, months, years, I give up hope,

But cut the noose, I want free from this rope.

Lonely, lost friends, I whisper quietly to me.

You're a good man Dan, find peace in eternity.
