Looking Up
Numbers storm my head
Into my ears
They force my head down
Tell me to stop looking up at the sky
They hiss in my ears in bed at night
Forget the clouds above
And the belief that all we need is some warm light
There’s no point in being quick to smile
When all that matters are the numbers
Branded on our foreheads
But those numbers are wrong
All I need are those people
Who keep looking up at the sky
Despite what the numbers say
The motivation to help them
Defy the odds
That is all I need.
