Looking around, what do I desire?

Looking around, what do I see?

Featureless faces rush past me.

Each a mask of nonchalance

Striving, ever striving, to fit in

Wanting, always wanting, to stick out.

Looking around, what do I see?

Flat facades swirl around me.

Hiding the depth that lies within,

They scurry about speaking

Only what wants to be heard.

Looking around, what do I see?

Confused consciences wilt before me.

Pushed to one side,

They wait to be heard, understood,

Developed.

Looking around, what do I desire?

A simple society that does not hide its fire.

Living, not to impress, but to express.

Working, not for applause, but for a cause.

Striving, not to be noticed, but their absence felt.
