Looking Forward to Things
Dear Those Who Look onto the World and Do Nothing,
As a child growing up I looked forward to Things,
Things such as Christmas, my birthday.
As I continued growing up,
I began looking forward to particular Things like,
Getting my first apartment, my first job, my first girl friend.
I then moved on to looking forward to certain Things like,
Getting married, having a family, being happy,
But,
When I look back at the rest of us,
All I can see is pain in the eyes of humanity.
All I can see is pain in the eyes of our world.
All I can see is pain in the eyes of my father,
My mother too.
And when I am asked to press on forward,
I look back at the rest of us and then ask of you,
Those who look onto the world and do nothing,
Why should I?
Is there a point?
Will there be Things left for me to look forward to if I,
Press on?
When I look into my sister's eyes,
I can see her looking forward,
And I realize this now,
Why I must press on and look forward.
I must do something,
So that she can look forward to Things.
With The kindest of regards,
A soul looking forward
