Looking in on the world

Looking in on the world from the outside

Living in the world as emotion's spy

Every pair of shoes walking down the avenue

Has a different walk and different shade of blue

Every face on the people pasing is the same

It's a crowded side walk of joy and pain

Every salted tear washes down the city drain

Not one blink, or word leaves a stain

I find myself wondering around in the city

The cool air runs through my hair and grazes past my cheek

It's dark and there's lights only when I make them

It's lonely.. but Lonely is a good friend

I lay upside down and I breathe color and light

I spill out the stories I see in their eyes

The people start to heal and their faces become clear

My only job here is to speak what I hear
