A Lord of Shadows

Thu, 01/30/2014 - 01:29 -- lorxayt

Long black wings unfurled

Into darkness he had curled

Up himself and in his heart

Blacker than the kings at the start

For he was Deus, black in might

Devourer of kings, lover of night

His dark tendrils snapping as he went

Only to his friends were his knees bent

Wronged he was in the past

But his innocence he had cast

Into a dark pit never to be reclaimed

And his original body he had maimed

Darkness swirled about him

Following his every whim

Command of the shadows he had

And in his iron crown he was clad

But despite his wretched heart

Blacker than the kings at the start

He held compassion above all else

Loving others more than himself

And even though he had been wronged

Above all else in his darkest throng

He remembered the past

And his anger did not last
