Losing the Air

You know when it gets dark

That a storm is approaching.

Shouts and hollers sound about up above,

But I pray that God will keep us safe like Noah’s ark.

The sound of portholes closing gives a fright

As everyone has eyes opened wide of the fear to come.

Everyone is invisible or cannot be seen from the darkness as if it’s night,

But you come as a whisper--the breath in my lungs to not have me go numb.

Everyone gasps for air

Since we were all closed in.

Only the religious ones broke out into prayer

Because it truly was pointless to consume the air in our trapped bin.
