Losing The Flame Of A Loved One

Watching the light slowly fade from a person you love is like watching your favorite candle burn to the end of its wick.

Both of you know the flame will be out soon, but neither of you choose to blow the fire out before it can burn to the very end.

Because you both want to savor what little time you have together, and though the flame doesn’t flicker high above the glass rim of the container anymore, we still choose to let the flame burn until it finally has nothing to feed off of.

Then you find yourself forgetting the smell of the candle, and the memories of the person you so recently lost.
