Losing Myself

I stand in front of the mirror looking back at the girl whose face once held a smile.
I question my sanity as I start to forget the little things.
My hair color, my eyes, my place in the world.
Like a void of darkness there is no end to this torture I call life.

I’m fine.

My name falls from the lips of the people that once knew who I was and
In the end they slip from mine as well as I forget who I am.
Once again I look in the mirror and see a blurry image that was once clear
I look back to all the times I made up another lie.

I’m fine.

When on the inside my heart was calling
Trying to remember who I was
dreams that were once stars are now falling.
The sound of nails against the chalkboard echo in my head
As I try to hold on to the pieces of myself
I find myself weak and lose myself piece by piece.

I’m fine.

The night sky that was once littered with stars is now a refugee for lost dreams and hopes
The one that shines the brightest is the one that once belonged to me,
And that is my name.

I’m fine.
