Losing An Undeclared War

I wish you could hear me

All those who listen

But my soundless words fall

Upon deaf ears

The screams of pain

Erupting from my chest

Catching, strangled, in my throat

I wish you could see me

All those who look

But blind eyes fall upon the pain

On my expressionless face

The looks of helplessness stifled

Held back by the stubborn muscles

I wish you would pay attention

All those who think you know me

But my stoic expression

Hides so well my depression
