in losing you, i lost myself

And maybe i would wear (my heart) on my sleeve a little more if i was sure that you wouldn't get up and leave as if it was the easiest thing to do And maybe i would open my (mind) to let you in a little deeper if i wasn't so scared to be robbed of my words that i was almost too afraid to relieve in the first place Don't think i haven't seen what you do when you move like a thieve claiming thoughts that aren't yours to hold but you hold them so close as they weave warm hues of yellow (and) blue that will be obtained by another (soul) who means so much more than i ever could. Darling was it stupid of me to concieve that when you said you were here to stay on that midsummers eve, you were telling the truth? as now i'm (left) alone trying to retrieve the cold organ that beats every so often only because and (when) it has to And after all the bruises i let fade from my memories of (you) i still can't help but wish to receive that one little piece which could make even the stormiest days feel like the brightest You were my sun, my moon and my stars (did) i ever mean anything to you? - e.m.
