Losing the young

look at the change

colourful clothes turned to greys and blacks

colouring in became typing up emails

look at the change

different flavoured lip balms turned to everyday makeup

birthday parties turned to normal days

look at the change

family game board nights became lonely screen time

waiting all year for summer break

but now that doesn’t exist

never used to care

now I’m a perfectionist

I wish I could go back

to the days without the worry and the fear

the days where I just lived

the days where nobody cared how I looked or acted or felt

the days where I had time

time to just enjoy life

but it’s all gone now

and I’m never getting it back

I’ve lost it all

I’ve lost my childhood

and I’m losing my youth
