The Loss

What happens today will forever been known within us, We will remember this game whether we win or loose, We will remember it as the day we gave it our all but it didn’t go our way, The lights of the pool stadium, The crowd filling the bleachers, The sight of black and red suits, Sends energy in you, The teams huddle up, Stretching, talking, preparing, The people stand, Hats are taken off, The stadium in complete silence, The pledge is made, The teams report to there sides, Captains are called, The final pep talk, “Citius, Altius, Fortius,” “Faster, Higher. Stronger,” The captains return, The teams yell their chants, Birmingham on three Birmingham on three 1, 2, 3 BIRMINGHAM!!! 1, 2, 3 Cleveland! The starters called in the water, The heads of the players on the lane line, The blood and nerves of people watching you, Rush down your body, The game is about to start, The refs get in position, They look both ways, The whistle is blown, The ball is dropped, Water flying from the end of our feet’s, The game has began, The fans watching our every move, Goals are scored on both sides, Ejections are made on both teams, The score is really close, People on the edge of there seats, It could be anyone’s games, The final busser, Cleveland 8, Birmingham 8, The refs huddle at the table, Both team on their sides, Waiting to see what will happen, The ref announce, 2 rounds of 4-minute overtimes, We jump back in, Tired and exhausted, Both teams push through it, Giving all the energy they have left, Holding nothing back, Until the game over The final buzzer, Birmingham 10 Cleveland 12 Birmingham devastated, Broken in tears, Cleveland jumping in joy, The coach is thrown in the pool, The sound of there happiness, Builds anger, hatred in us, We gave it our all, All energy lost, Nothing was held back, It just didn’t go our way, But it still will be remembered.
