The Loss of a Twin
Partners in crime from the beginning,
A unique bond that is so strong,
You can always count on one other,
But in the flash of the moment everything changes,
One word uttered out of the doctor’s mouth to your twin changes everything, “Cancer.”
The world becomes gray.
You try and fight it off together and it brings you closer
But one day you stand alone,
And feel like you have been torn apart.
No longer are you two peas in pod.
You wonder why her not me,
You feel as if a part of you is gone.
No one can ever take her place,
The never ending grief and loneliness you face.
Without her the world is never the same.
No longer do you know who to call, to laugh with or to talk too.
The struggle, the misery, the reminders of her death you face
on what’s supposed to be the happiest day of the year.
The worst heartache and remainder of your loss is others calling you her name,
And it will stay that way until you are reunited in Heaven one day.
