lost

A whisper starts within my soul a thought that takes a heavy toll that others shine with brighter gleam and I am lost within a dream. Their laughter rings a sweeter sound their presence graceful and profound they walk with purpose, strong and sure while I just quietly endure. The path they tread seems clear and wide with no dark shadows where I hide they speak with wit, a ready grace while I feel awkward in this space. Perhaps it’s how I see myself a book unopened on a shelf unread, unknown, a quiet plea for someone just to notice me. Their talents bloom, a vibrant hue while mine feel muted, faint and few a gardener tending barren ground where little beauty can be found. The world spins on, a vibrant show and I just watch it ebb and flow a spectator, with humble sighs behind these longing, wistful eyes. It’s not a malice, not a spite just a dimming of my own light a subtle shade, a lesser spark lost in the vast, unending dark. But in this quiet, deep within a different thought may yet begin a flicker, small, a tender shoot of self acceptance, bearing fruit.
