One second

They were all here

All beside me

All near

Laughing, crying , smiling

The definition of happiness

Then suddenly,

They were all gone

My hope, my joy

All gone

To do better things

To make better lives

And me?

I was stuck

Stuck and struggling to survive

I was lost

Lost without them

Without my friends

Days went by

And I heard nothing

No sounds of reassurance

No sound at all

Hope had all but left me

By the fall

Their smiles refuel me

Their laughter infectious

Without them

I am lost

Roaming with no goal

In a desert so cold

Please hug your friends

Tell them you care

Because one day

They will leave

For college

for another state

for jobs

whatever the case

Tell them you love them

Because you wouldnt want

To become lost
